They say your first kiss should be earned.

Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky.

They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred.

Mine were broken before we left church.

They say your heart only beats for one man.

Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end.

I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit.

Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.

They say that all great love stories have a happy ending.

I, Francesca Rossi, found myself erasing and rewriting mine until the very last chapter.

One kiss.
Two men.
Three lives.
Entwined together.

And somewhere between these two men, I had to find my forever.

To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive when I started reading The Kiss Thief by L.J. Shen. I’m not into love triangles and Wolfe Keaton’s character scared me, irritated me. He’s an asshole, yep. But as soon as the story picked up (I don’t back down just because), I noticed how I became so invested with their story.

I was rooting for Francesca. I was rooting for Wolfe. I was rooting for them to make things work between them. He’s an asshole. He’s rough. She pushes his buttons. She’s undecisive. They misunderstand each other. They lack proper communication. They make me crazy.

See, their story and characters are definitely a far cry from being perfect. They were perfect at being flawed.

Especially Senator Wolfe Keaton. Seeing how his character changed was like seeing a platonic relationship bloom into a romantic one. It was such a sight to see that the walls he built around him since he was young…little by little cracked. The ice inside of him started to thaw and with warmth slowly slipping out. It was beautiful. Totally hands down to LJ Shen for writing such a great character development. I love it.
