Author: Lisa De Jong (Website | Twitter)

SYNOPSIS

I’ve always let my past dictate my future, letting it paint a picture of exactly what I don’t want to be. Where I don’t want to end up.

Drake Chambers is as arrogant as I am stubborn. A college quarterback, a national star. I thought he was just another one of those guys … the type every girl should stay away from, but he’s carrying more than the weight of the football team on his shoulders.

He unravels the feelings and beliefs I’ve held onto for so long.

I thought we had it all figured out. Two people who’d finally found their happily ever after, but the past always has a way of sneaking into the present.

With one decision, everything changes … forever.

Changing Forever is a good read and addition to the Rain Series. Yes, there’s definitely feels between Emery and Drake but it wasn’t as emotional as When It Rains with Kate and Asher.

The plot for Changing Forever was quite simple. If you’re a keen observer or tries to note down some lines in your mind (and try to think if there are hidden messages behind it), I’m sure you’ll be able to figure out the story line/twist of this book even before reaching the 50% mark of the it. And I hate myself for being that! Though, I ended up still being surprised because it really did follow through with my guesses.

I love how the build up between Emery and Drake happened. It wasn’t an insta-love type or anything near rushed. There were parts of the story that tended to be a bit dragging (which I understood why it’s needed) because of the situations the characters were in and the decisions that they’ve made. Decisions that they were subjected to do because of them still chained to their pasts. There were some moments wherein I would want to jump inside the pages of the book already and shake some sense into them.

Lisa De Jong delivers another heartfelt book injected with important messages to her readers. Through this book, we see how one’s past can greatly affect his/her life if he/she doesn’t free his/herself from it. It somewhat limits us on what were supposed to do in life which is to enjoy and live it. Sometimes we tend to over think everything we do in life that we forget to have fun while doing it. I’m not saying that it’s bad to plan out and think about it but when you do it too much it defeats the purpose of fun, being in the moment and living our life to the fullest. Another thought that this book imparted to me is that some of the best things in life happens when it isn’t planned. Be spontaneous from time to time ’cause you’ll never know that it could probably bring out the best moments you’ll have in life.

All in all, I definitely recommend this book to you guys. To those readers who’ve read When It Rains already, I’m sure you’ll want to know and read about a book also set in the WIR’s world. The author tried to inject a few cameos of Kate and Beau … a mention or two about Asher. All good stuff.

“Two different people. Two different worlds. Two different dreams”
