BLURB

Five-minute girlfriend. This is what Jett signs up for when she meets Adrian and his band Arabella at beach music festival Summer Storm. One kiss and the attraction is too electric to ignore, but Jett has no room for love and Adrian is Mr. Relationship who’s getting over his recent breakup. The solution? Keep it simple. Keep it casual. For three months (that’s the rule about breakups, right?), Jett helps Adrian move on and Adrian shows up on Jett’s bed whenever she wants.

Then the three months are up and neither of them are in a hurry to be the first to leave. Does Jett walk away from a potential disaster or does she finally let someone into her closely-guarded heart?

BOOK REVIEW

The story kicks-off when Jett was approached by Franklin and Kenny, members of a band named Arabella, and asked to pretend to be their front-man’s, Adrian, girlfriend. With a backstage pass to Isaiah on the line, Jett grabs the opportunity and set-off to rescue Adrian from his ex-girlfriend who’s currently parading herself with his new man. But five minutes with Adrian and an unexpected explosive kiss shared ultimately changed everything.

“It’s a careful progression of notes building toward a climax of guitar riffs and earth-shattering crescendos.”

This book is my first ever read from de los Reyes and I doubt that it would be the last one. I was highly impressed with how she handled the plot, made the story go full circle and narrated everything in it in such a poetical manner. The story and words flowed seamlessly. By reading the synopsis you may think that you already know where the story is heading, well you’re clearly wrong on that front. With some seemingly common scenes, de los Reyes made it her own and painted things into a new light while setting clever and beautiful imagery to her reader’s mind. Yes, you may get several key points ticked off (like from casual hook-up to later on one or both characters will feel something towards the other) but the conflict presented and the turn of events in Feels like Summer will surprise you in a lot of ways.

THE HOT SHOT
GAME ON Book 4
By Kristen Callihan
Release Day: April 17th

First we were friends. Then we were roommates. Now I want more…

What can I say about Chess Copper? The woman is capable of bringing me to my knees. I know this about five minutes after getting naked for her.

No one is more surprised than me. The prickly photographer my team hired to shoot our annual charity calendar isn’t my usual type. She’s defense to my offense, a challenge at every turn. But when I’m with her, all the regrets and darkness goes away. She makes life fun.

I want to know Chess, be close to her. Which is a bad idea.

Chess is looking for a relationship. I’ve never given a woman more than one night. But when fate leaves Chess without a home, I step up and offer her mine. We’re roommates now. Friends without benefits. But it’s getting harder to keep our hands off each other. And the longer we live together the more I realize she’s becoming my everything.

Trick is… Now that I’ve made her believe I’m a bad bet, how do I convince her to give this player a true shot at forever?

FINN

She sits quietly as I eat, and shakes her head when I offer her a sandwich section. Because I’m hungry, and because I don’t like the idea of her having to wait for me to eat, I wolf down my food. The brownie follows with a few, quick bites.

Wiping my hands on a napkin, I set the plate and empty can on a side table, and then let out a contented sigh. “Thanks. I needed that.”

Her smile is small and quick. “I should have fed you as soon as you got here.”

“I’m good now.”

Chess braces her hands on the seat and leans forward to watch her feet as we slowly rock the swing. Silence descends, thick and awkward, and for the first time in her presence, I’m at a loss for words. Continue reading “Release Day Blitz: The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan”

MIXED UP
By Emma Hart
Release Day: April 18

Hiring my brother’s best friend was not on my to-do list.
Neither was he.

Expanding my dirty cocktail bar into food was supposed to be easy, except finding a chef in my little town of Whiskey Key is anything but.

Until Parker Hamilton comes home—bringing his Michelin starred chef’s hat with him.

He has no work. I need someone like him in my new kitchen.

There’s just one problem: I hate his cocky, filthy-mouthed, sexy-as-hell guts.

Even if I might want him. Just a little…

Working for my best friend’s sister? Not on my to-do list.
She’s another story.

Whiskey Key was supposed to be a relaxing vacation, except I haven’t reached the heights I have by lying in a hammock drinking cocktails. So when Raven Archer is desperate for a chef, I offer up my skills.

I’m bored. She needs what I can give her.

Except there’s a problem: I’ve always hated her.

Her and her big, blue eyes, sassy mouth, and killer curves.

If only I didn’t want her.

EXCERPT

The sound of my phone buzzing on the nightstand was loud, jarring, and very, very annoying.

It wasn’t the most pleasant sound in the world to wake up to.

Groaning, I rolled over and batted my hand around on the top of the nightstand. Then, I realized the bed was vibrating. It was a mammoth effort to open my eyes, but somehow I managed it so I could look down the gap between the cupboard and my bed. Just like I assumed it was, my phone was wedged between the leg of the bed and the wooden side of my nightstand.

I fished it out with my finger. The moment it was free, it stopped ringing.

Of course it did. Continue reading “Release Day Blitz: Mixed Up by Emma Hart”

Book Review: Hawthorne & Heathcliff by R.K. Ryals

HAWTHORNE & HEATHCLIFF
Author: R.K. Ryals (Website | Twitter)
Publication Date: August 2, 2015

Hawthorne

SYNOPSIS

Two names that didn’t belong to us. Two shoes that did.

Intense and introspective, seventeen-year-old Hawthorne Macy knows all about being abandoned. She’s felt the stark pain of being left behind by the people who are supposed to love her the most; her parents. Raised by her caring uncle on an old plantation, Hawthorne lives her life on the fringes of her small Southern town.

Until she meets his shoe.

Senior year, last period English class, and a pair of silent tennis shoes resting next to hers in the back of the room throws Hawthorne into a world she’d learned to stay outside of.

His name is Max Vincent, but in her mind, he’s Heathcliff. The handsome eighteen-year-old boy behind the shoes will pull Hawthorne into a passionate and unforgettable adventure of self-discovery during a time when love seems impossible.

Shoes can tell a lot about a person. The journey they take you on can tell a lot about how they’ll hold up.

BOOK REVIEW

You know you’ve read a good book when you end up musing about your life and how you’re living it. Thank you, R.K. Ryals for crafting, writing and sharing this story to us. Hawthorne and Heathcliff is beautifully written in a poetic and philosophical manner. I was a few chapters in, when the first batch of tears and sniffing came in. There were moments where it got my head and heart spinning from all the metaphors, reading between the lines and the emotions flowing out of the characters.

“The unknown is exciting. Not knowing what you really want to do is an adventure. It’s a chance to go out there and find out what you want, to learn about yourself. Not everyone has it figured out, you know.”

KiC AmazonAbout KISSING IN CARS (The Kiss and Make Up Series, Book 1)

This novel, along with all others in this series, is a standalone with no cliffhanger. You’re welcome.

WILL SHE, OR WON’T SHE…

Studious and (mostly) sensible, the only thing Molly Wakefield wants to do is get through Senior Year and graduate. Well, that and hit the beach in her spare time. Okay, fine – and go shopping every once in a while for a new dress… (and who could blame her?)

And things are going according to plan – until the day she spies Weston McGrath, handsome star athlete and scholar, spying on her in study hall.

A tad creepy? Maybe.
Thrilling? Absolutely.

You see, Weston McGrath happens to be one guy no one can get close to.

Despite her best efforts to avoid it (because let’s face it – the guy isn’t exactly “boyfriend material”) Molly and Weston form a friendship.

And more….
Sort of.
But it’s a friendship that comes with a price – because Weston just cannot seem to stop screwing things up. Or saying all the wrong things. Possibly in that order…
And who has time for an 18 year old “fixer-upper” that should know better?
Not Molly.
Or does she?

Note: This YA book is intended for 17+ due to the vulgar language used by its male characters (and occasionally the females as well, even though they’re too lady like to do it throughout the entire book). Some adult sexual situations that steam up a few car windows. This title is approx. 63,000 words.

Read for free on Kindle Unlimited.
